This morning, I was talking to my friend who lives outside Tallahassee, and his thermometer said that it was 12 degrees! He has a pond and it was frozen, he had to put the heater on inside and his windows are all foggy looking. He could see his breath when he outside too, he also had to scrape his windshield this morning as he went for a ride and he had icicles on his house (very small ones.) So don't say that it doesn't get that cold in Florida! There's freezing temperatures all the way down to Tampa and Orlando.
Everything is relative. People say Florida doesn't get cold because other places are a lot colder. This type of weather is rare in Florida, but it is the norm in a lot of other places. Tallahassee will be in the 70s again soon while the North has to wait until Spring to get Tallahassee's normal winter weather. Even if it gets below freezing sometimes, a winter where the average highs are in the 60s is not cold. That's why people move to Florida...the winters are warm compared to where they used to live. I could tolerate one day of 12 degrees if it gets above 60 in the winter more often than not. I know that cold in Florida is no different than cold anywhere else. But just grin and bear it while it lasts, knowing that it could be a lot worse.
This year is not normal for Florida. On the local news a few times it said it has not been this cold in 30 years or so. This winter is somewhat unusual everywhere.

Actually, Tallahassee's temperatures are supposed to stay down in the 30s and 40s for lows and 50s and 60s for highs for the upcoming week. There's going to be more days in the next week where temps are near freezing.
+12 degrees is still 50 degrees warmer than parts of the North yesterday (scroll down to yesterday morning, even this morning was a tad nippy National Weather Service : Presque Isle). Cold is relative like was said before.

Regardless, that sounds like Spring weather in a lot of other places. I have to wait until April to consistently get weather like that. Floridians don't understand how good they have it.
All this coming from someone that hates the cold. So its not like I'm just a winter lover that has no sympathy for people that hate the cold.
You're right~it can get pretty cold in Fla. But it's still the only sub-tropical area of the continental U.S. The only thing on their side is that it doesn't happen often and like others said~they can hope for a nice warmup while the rest of us are still having highs that don't even reach freezing.
Yeah, but it's back up to 50 degrees right now. I don't think anyone has said it doesn't get cold in Florida. It does, but only for a couple days at most.
50 degrees is not cold to me. I eat 50 degrees for breakfast.
