Oh man, I forgot about the summer attire...I don't live near the ocean and don't really head out that direction, so I hadn't even thought about that...I might have to change my vote! Thanks for the heads-up

You don't have to worry about me doing that; thanks to A/C, I fear going indoors in Florida without long sleeves.

I believe I have always been overdressed for Florida summers. I don't understand why when tourists come to the beach they have to do it almost
naked.

I can understand them wanting to be underdressed outdoors, maybe where most of them come from it is too chilly for them to be able to go half-naked. (or worse, ) It gets tiring for me needing to be bundled up winter, spring and fall.
Also I know there are people who lack modesty. Even if it was hot outside and not cold inside from too much A/C, I would still want to put on a t-shirt, shorts and sandals on to go indoors. Does that sound reasonable?

I Hate The Cold!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love the heat! I HATE the cold! I tried the cold thing, moving from S. FL to MA. WAY TOO COLD!!!!! Even some of the summers were only 60's - BRRRRR!!
I'll stick w/ my FL weather. The hotter and more humid the better! I love the summers! Anything under 60 is just too cold! I was born in FL and I hate using A/C so it is used sparingly. We are by the water and get a nice breeze (it is in the 80's and the windows are open).

I will be trying the cold thing too, if I dont like it ill probably will just have to deal with it because Florida and California arent affordable and I would melt in Texas. I figure 4 months of cold up north has gotta be better than 10 months of heat in south FL so I shouldnt be complaining when I relocate north.

The tourists seem to think it is OK to wear a bikini without shoes, a tank or anything else into a grocery store, drug store, any store for that kind, some restaurants. Basically anywhere. I do not do that when I go on vacation. I would be embarrassed to run around like that.

I've spent many years vacationing in Myrtle Beach in August and have never seen that.
How many tourists in Florida do that? You're not just talking about Spring Break kids and bikers are you?

I agree you'd probably like the northern U.S. better. Yucky grey skies predominate from October to March around the Great Lakes, but the rest of the time you'd probably enjoy yourself, especially if you don't mind weather in the 40's and 50's with a bit of wind.

I could give a d*mn about the "look" - though I'd much rather see someone bundled than see their naked/half naked bodies- now THAT is tacky! (barf smiley - HEY MODS - again I suggest MORE SMILEYS PLEASE!!! ) But NOT for the reason msj says. Now THAT is tacky!!! Dear lord how superficial can you be?!?! Again, barf smiley...
The reason I hate piling layer upon layer upon layer - which I need to do under 70 - is that you become immobile!!!
I mean, not only is it totally claustrophobic but you literally cannot move!!! I even hate wearing long sleeves cause every time you wash your hands - which I do all the time! - you either roll them up & they fall down anyway, or they just somehow get wet!!! And that makes you colder!!!
URGH!!!!!!!!! DRATTED COLD!!!!!!!!!!
Jim - welcome to FL cousin!!!
