Default ICE storm! Who here has received ice with this current storm?

Its been all rain at my place here in northeast Tennessee, but to our north, WOW, they have been getting damaging ice. I imagine the hardest hit people that are on these boards are probably without power this evening.

Let hope they are all OK and get back in order soon. I have seen that alot of trees and power lines are down. Seems this ice storm stretches from Texas and Louisiana, all the way to West Virginia and Ohio.

we are under a freezing rain advisory, but I do think our temps will stay above freezing and we will not see the damage that Arkansas and Kentucky have had. My brother in law is a trucker and is caught in the middle of it in Ky.

I know how devestating these things can be and offer my sympathies for those affected. The loss of power might be only for a few hours or in cases around here when we had our bad ice storm, people went months before they got power back on.

We live in Western KY (on the Ohio River), and it's bad here. The Gov has issued a state of emergency for the whole state, many counties around us have no power and dunno when it will be back on, about 1/2 of our county has no power as well.

There's about 3-4" (maybe more, but I am guessing low) of ice then snow then more ice on top of it. It's nasty and very dangerous.

Stay safe and warm guys, this one so far has been worse than the snow of 04, lol. I can handle snow SOOOOOOOOO much better than ice.

Ice is nasty, no getting around it. I've lived in the midwest all my life and for myself, I never get used to ice.

I hope people stay indoors! Good luck, be safe everyone!

I'll be surprised if the power stays on all day, the ice and now snow are all over the trees.

According to our noon news there are 400,000 homes in Kentucky without power right now, the second worst outage in state history.

This is what my backyard in Lexington, KY looks like

The neighbor's front yard

Rose of Sharon bushes bent halfway to the ground

Half an inch of ice coating a Locust Tree

The BAD news is it's not going to get above freezing until Sunday

Is lt me, but are we seeing more ice storms than ever or the same? Chicago miss the recent storms, but we had our share around New Year holiday. It wasn't nice for my trade of work to do what we did accident free on those days.

As usual, Louisville is always hard hit due to the large number of older trees. Here are some damages pics from the Courier Journal.com

We got a little freezing rain, but it has changed back into snow and they're calling for 2 inches accumulation an hour in the northern part of my county in Northeast Ohio.

We got ice here in the Dallas area. Thankfully, it hasn't been too bad though. No power outages or anything that I've heard about anyway. It is still below freezing but we are getting an abundance of sunshine. So we are thawing out pretty quickly!
