171 inches for 2015 at 600 ft. I'm Puna district,
Hawaii. A bit wetter than normal. 2016 is starting out very dry.

After 14 days of January: Still only 0.2 mm. Clear skies most days.
If I include the last 4 days of December, we've had 0.3 mm last 18 days.

Wow. I think you live in the wettest climate of any poster here. How much of the year were you in Alaska?

53.6mm so far this month at Heathrow. The January average is 55mm so it's been a very wet start to 2016.

Most of it, be we also received over 100 inches at my Alaska locale this past year.

A friend and I record the Hawaii rainfall using your basic 5 inch plastic rain gauge, so it's not precise.

Close enough though, as it's between the Hilo and Mountain View areas in elevation.

From Hilo Hawaii Tribune Herald News paper:

"Hilo International Airport recorded rainfall of 147.59 inches for the year, 16 percent above the average of 126.72 inches. The upland areas were even wetter, with Piihonua reporting 216.35 inches, 30-plus inches above normal. Waiakea Uka and Mountain View, with 211.54 inches and 193.74 inches, respectively, each received about 15 inches more than usual.

Some places received less rain than normal. One is Glenwood, an exceptionally wet spot in upper Puna, which recorded 212.81 inches, 20-plus inches below average."

Poor Glenwood, they came up short.

Including today's 0.92"/23 mm (so far), we've received 2.68" of rain this year or about 67 mm. Average to date 1.23" (31 mm)
