You are truly "iron-clad" when it comes to the handling "chill."
(tougher than the majority in Toronto )

Before my nerve disorder, I was raised like this:

Spring meant t-shirt at 50 F and a coat below 40 F.
Fall meant t-shirt to about 55 F, sweater below that, and coat below 45 F.

Good LORD there are some cold "wimps" here! LOL! At least compared to me. I think 50F is WARM!

50+ is T shirt n jeans, and depending on wind/ sun, shorts are often an option for me above 50F, as is a light windbreaker type jacket up to about 65F. Just depends on the sun/ wind as to weather or not its gonna be shorts or light wind breaker weather. Even on a nice still day with bright sun, 45-50F can be a shorts day for me.

Below 50F is hoodie sweatshirt w/ T shirt under. Below 40F is jacket, below 32F is heavy jacket, hat, gloves, and scarf.

So if you think 50 is warm, does that make you a hot weather wimp?

I don't take off my sweater/hoodie until 85-86f. Even when I was in portugal in August...

Below 60f, I wear T-shirt, fleece, sweater, coat, hat and if need be, gloves. But then I also have an extremely low body mass index (~15) so I need protection in the cold.

I cannot answer for anybody else, but for me... YES. Without a doubt, I am a hot weather weenie. If it is 80+ outside you better not stand between me and the beach because I will run you over .

Wimps?
Okay I see you're in Virginia...
So what do you think of a typical VA summer day at 85 F with 55% humidity?
Do you find that "brutal?"

For me, that's excellent "warm" summer weather;
cool and dry enough to not sweat, yet just warm enough to keep goosebumps at bay indefinitely.

Yup, we're polar opposites. Right now an 80 plus temp day would seem pretty warm cause it's been cold, but during the summertime I love it when it's in the mid to upper 80s. And the beach......ahhhhh.....don't get me started on how much I'd like to be at the ocean soaking up some rays right now.

I'll venture a guess that plains/upper midwest 32 is alot different, I can't feature Virginia being cold, 32 there is probably pretty mild. Of course, 32 here, most people don't wear gloves, hat or scarf!

^^

From what I've seen, in between the mountains and the sea (Piedmont?) the air is usually fairly calm,
making 50 F feel A LOT nicer than it would around the Great Lakes.

(calm is very unusual here )

Plus I hear places like V.A. and D.C. get sunshine 50% of all winter hours;
which certainly plays a part into how 50 F might commonly be felt.
