Most Depressed Cities
America's top 10 unhappiest cities - MSN Real Estate
This is kind of interesting. I was surpised to see a few of them on the list especially Jacksonville. I thought it was sunny there and people would be happy.

Alot of those places have rubbish climates so it's not surprising.
Jacksonville and Vegas surprised me, as they are warm and sunny.

I thought a lot of it was climate and economy..whats with Jax and Vegas? I guess I can see Vegas as many go there to gamble their fortunes...and end up losing it all.

I'd be depressed if I lived in Vegas, too. Actually, I thought a lot of the residents were happy there. It's just not my kind of place~huge population and a lot of tourists~no ocean~a really different atmosphere then what I'm used to.
Yes, at first I wasn't sure if it was climate related or economy related, but some of the places don't have an outstanding unemployment rate for this day and age. Most of the places were either cloudy or cold so I thought it may have something to do with climate.

The list surprised me, too! I wasn't surprised about Detroit or Cleveland, and actually I thought the St. Louis area wasn't bad shows you what I know! Las Vegas, Jacksonville, and Atlanta were not ones I expected.

OT, but I really hate how most ranking articles involve a slide show. I miss the days of a list + description.

Nobody in Canada (besides those allergic to U.V.) finds sun depressing...
Is it possible you just find just find sub-tropical sunlight too intense,
and that you might actually enjoy the milder sunlight of the north?
*Seriously, the sun always feels weaker here, even when it's 98 F outside; at our latitudes we have more fine, continuous ultra-high-altitude cloudcover, so the sunlight feels less intense at any angle, and at any temperature.
Ex: Sunlight to me feels like it only adds 10-15 F extra to parts of you in the sun vs. your shaded body parts here. In Florida, it feels like your body parts in the sun are 20-25 F warmer than parts in the shade. OR I can feel nearly-as-hot in the Florida sunshine wearing white as I can wearing dark colours in Toronto sunshine, at the same ambient temperature and humidity level.
