I'm pretty sure i got sad because cold overcast depression just makes me wanna do nothing except get drunk.
Well, either you have SAD or you're an alcoholic. Do you feel like drinking when the weather is the way you like it? You don't have to answer on here, but that'd give YOU a clue which it is.
TIJ, that's interesting. So you're thinking that Honduras has the most perfect climate? And you're right~windchill has a LOT to do with the comfort of weather. Our winter nights often are zero or above, BUT you factor in that windchill and it's 20 to 30 degrees colder then the actual temp.
The rain you got in Mn. came from over here.
Jammie: Come to Las Vegas in January sometime when the temp can drop as low as the high 20's and these viscious, cruel winds blow through this wide valley and you'll wish you were back in South Dakota! With a 40mph wind, we're looking at windchill with a below-zero reading! Yes, in Las Vegas, in winter you can wake up to ice on the sidewalks and your windshield.
I just love seeing the reactions to those that have just spent their first winter in Las Vegas, it's truly amusing! The common reaction: Gee! I thought it was hot year-round here, as they pull the parka hood over their frozen ears. People don't realize that it can freeze in the desert here at 40 degrees, due to our very low humidity. The Nurseries have warning labels on the plants: protect your plants below 40 degees.

Same here except that I (and the majority of Sydneysiders) drink a lot during those horrible stiftling humid summer evenings to make it easier to feel happier as well as sleep well . Don't drink so much when it's nicely cold

It's funny that you mentioned that. We were in Vegas the end of Dec. and I was surprised at how chilly it was. Your days did warm up fairly decent, but I expected it to be like Fla. in Dec. We actually came back home New Year's Eve Day, I believe. Unfortunately, it was much colder here then it was there.

Proof???

I feel like drinking whenever because getting tipsy is fun
You don't live in Sydney so I can't offer you proof, not that I need to anyway. Alcohol related crime as well as violence rates increase significantly during hot and humid months and decrease substantially during the non humid & cooler months. Need I say more?
I never said Sydney was Darwin. I'm merely speaking from a Sydney perspective.

In Canada, people stay indoors more often when it's colder.
(not all the time, not everyone, but that is the general trend)
As spring rolls around, there is an increase in injuries, speeding and probably "partying" because the milder weather makes it easier to do almost everything.
People might be more likely to get "sloshed" in summer than any other particular season because it is easier to entertain large groups of guests when they don't mind being outside.
** I don't know how you'd feel better coping with heat drunk;
drinking always warms/heats me up, even causes me to sweat easier.
Plus alcohol dehydrates you, worsening the effects of any kind of heat.
I have just retired and I am looking for a place to live that does not have cold winters , but doesn't have hot summers either. I do not like snow, but I do not like the humidity and heat of the Southeast either.
Is there any place that sort of has perennial falls & springs?
Thanks for your help.
nancy thereader, have you read about or visited Colorado Springs? I've read CS has 300+ annual sunny days. Many on the threads write the winters and summers are mild. I'd like to spend some time there. Climate is important to me for I'm outdoors walking daily, weather permitting.

do you have any evidence to back up your claim?

I know you never said Sydney was Darwin, but the way you go on about the humidity in Sydney one would think you describing Darwin's weather...
