Cool NBC TODAY Show: A Rare Look at How Tornadoes Form.

It never fails. Whenever a natural disaster hits, somebody always risks bodily harm to take some video amid the chaos and destruction. Insane? Perhaps, but the fact is that footage from Mother Nature blows away anything you'll see in a summer blockbuster.

I got caught in a wimpy F0 or F1 tornado back in 1972 and that once was enough for me. When I say "caught", I mean the (adjective) thing ran right over the top of me and the vehicle I was riding in. I was with a group of 4 others in this beat up Chevy Suburban type land yacht (not sure GM had the "Suburban" model back then) and the twister picked the truck up with all five of us inside, lifted it 4 - 5 feet into the air and spun it around twice before setting it down.
Never even saw it until way too late. None of us ever saw a tornado before and none of us ever lived in a place where these things were common or expected. We never recognized the warning signs. On top of that, all this went down in the White Mountains of Arizona, not a state known for being a hotbed of tornadic activity.
Like "M", I'll be content to watch them on TV or You Tube rather than up close and personal.
