Us "northern folk" seem to either adapt to our climate, or REALLY like it warm.
For me, even a heat index of 110 F is not much to worry about.

*So far, it seems that only residents of cooler climates actually enjoy VERY HIGH temps.
Perhaps people who live in this climate who're sensitive to "cold" and not "heat" develop an "attitude,"
which helps us handle even more heat.

Nice...
I'd like to visit a water park at least once this summer,
but we might never get temps just high enough that I'd enjoy being wet all day.
(not falling below 80-85 F before I leave the park?)
So I might never go this YEAR because of this.

*this is probably stunning to people who live where summers are "hot-to-beastly."

What kind of weather makes me happy?

Cool crisp fall weather
Cold clear winter weather with just a bit of snow here and there
Mild balmy spring weather
Warm breezy summer weather with an occasional afternoon thunderstorm

In other words I'm pretty happy with nearly anything between roughly 20F and 90F, in the appropriate season of course. And not too extreme in the way of cloud cover or precipitation.

73F right now, high is supposed to be 83F today, and partly cloudy. Did I mention I love the weather where I live now?

Do you dislike cold water to swim in? I am assuming you would, but just asking.

I know people that go swimming at the beginning of summer (and sometimes even during Spring) just because the air is warm, even though the water hasn't had time to warm up yet. The few times I've gone in a pool at the beginning of the season, I got out quickly because the water was so cold. I don't find it comfortable to swim in cold water, no matter how hot it is outside. I prefer pools to be at least 80 and oceans to be at least 70 (although even warmer would be better). 70 is about as warm as the ocean gets here, even when the water warms up. But I've gone swimming in South Carolina when the water was 82 and thought that was much nicer than the beaches around here. But I'm not much of a swimming person (which is a good thing since I'm moving to a landlocked state), so I don't go swimming very often even if the water temperature is comfortable. Hot tubs will always be nice, though. In fact, I prefer hot tubs (probably because they're hotter and I'm a heat lover).

Or maybe very high temps in cooler climates are just more of a novelty. While it is kind of fun to experience a dozen or so hot days in Toronto, in Houston where hot weather is the norm, the fun factor disappears and heat becomes more of an annoyance or worse. Also I suspect that people in the north really experience hot temperatures mostly when on vacation so they start to make that association (heat = tropical paradise where you can bum around all day). Actually living in a place where it is 90+ everyday does not mean lying on the beach with a cold beer all day long.

Anyway, personally, I don't fall into that category - I dislike very hot weather (above 90F) unless I'm close to water where I can quickly cool myself off.
