Default Mt. Rushmore fireworks launch despite clouds

Fog blanked the annual fireworks extravaganza Friday night at Mount Rushmore National Memorial.

Thousands cheered the blasts of color and the boom-crack of fireworks above the fog-enshrouded mountain. Meanwhile, thousands of others streamed away from the memorial and the show many waited hours in the rain to see.

Debey, did you see the video on utube? It was actually beautiful with the fireworks against the fog, but you couldn't even see Rushmore.

I was surprised that they actually had it since they'd been talking about cancelling it for a good part of the day. We had thought about going this year and I'm glad we didn't. I want to see it when it's clear.
