Anything in the 80's F for a dewpoint is unusual (not at all an everyday occurrence....maybe a few times a year) even in most parts of Florida.
For example, the low and high dewpoints for the year 2008 in...
Orlando: 3 to 78 F (average 61F)
Tampa: 6 to 79 F (average 61F)
Jacksonville: 5 to 80 F (average 58F)
Tallahassee: 5 to 79 F (average 55F)
Miami: 16 to 82 F (average 66F) - 1 day with a dewpoint 80+
Key West: 30 to 79 F (average 68F)
Fort Lauderdale: 14 to 77 F (average 64F)
Fort Myers: 13 to 79 F (average 63F)
That's from Weather Underground.

Our "high DP" today was 72°
Now down to 67° (dewpoint)
We have had DPS as high as 78°, but its rare... typically our summer dps run in the upper 60s and lower 70s.

I've heard non-native Torontonians that say our humidity is very high, we are very muggy or sticky...
surprisingly and/or almost-unbearably so.
Every year Toronto hits a dewpoint of at least 72 F!
Most years we hit a dewpoint of at least 75 F.
1-in-3 years we have dewpoints that reach or pass 80 F.
I know I've seen a dewpoint of 82 F at least once here.
I believe I might have seen a dewpoint at 83/84 F once in my lifetime.
*However, windspeeds under 6 mph are generally uncommon, with or without our days of high humidity, so it's normal to get at least an intermittant "waft" blow away a little of your heat once more than once a minute.
If that is accurate I'm stunned,
and I would not find Florida nearly as bad in summer as everyone says it is.
*I had imagined Florida had maximum annual dewpoints ranging from 83-88 F throughout the state.

I spent June and most of my July in Tampa, and it's really not that bad.
It's also not unusual for most of the northern U.S. (and southern Ontario) east of 100* W latitude to see "Florida-like" (or even worse) dewpoints on some days during the summer. Only those days are the outliers, while in Florida they are the norm - but rarely is that norm exceeded.
Some other dewpoint ranges for 2008, mostly in the Southern US and along the Gulf Coast:
Iqaluit, NU: -49 to 54 (average 9)
Nain, NF (Labrador): -49 to 64 (average 20)
St. John's, NF: -22 to 68 (average 35)
Moncton, NB: -22 to 73 (average 36)
Portland, ME: -11 to 72 (average 37)
Boston, MA: -10 to 73 (average 39)
New York, NY: -12 to 76 (average 40)
Washington, DC: -11 to 77 (average 44)
Norfolk, VA:-3 to 79 (average 50)
Charleston, SC: 3 to 79 (average 54)
Atlanta, GA: -1 to 75 (average 48)
Savannah, GA: 7 to 79 (average 55)
Birmingham, AL: 0 to 76 (average 50)
Gulfport, MS: 7 to 81 (average 58)
Columbus, MS: 2 to 78 (average 55)
New Orleans, LA: 9 to 81 (average 61)
Little Rock, AR: 0 to 59 (average 50)
Houston, TX: 9 to 81 (average 59)
Austin, TX: 3 to 77 (average 53)
Brownsville, TX: 16 to 81 (average 65)
Matamoros, NL: 19 to 84 (average 68) (lots of days with 80+ dp's)
Tampico, TAM: 34 to 84 (average 68)
Veracruz, VER: 45 to 84 (average 69)
Merida, YUC: 41 to 84 (average 71)
Puerto Limon, Costa Rica: 36 to 82 (average 72)
Denver, CO: (average 28)

An 88F dewpoint?!?!
Yeah....that's not likely here . What tvdxer said was pretty accurate....dewpoints above 80 are rather unusual here...most of the east coast has similar relative humidities during the summer...there really isn't that much of a difference between the % humidity between Toronto and Miami. It's just Toronto is cooler and that's why it feels much cooler.

Well, Florida is "supposed to be" startlingly, oppressively humid,
while Toronto definitely isn`t.
An dewpoint under 80 F doesn't seem crazy to me,
and even the dewpoint of 82 F I saw wasn't mind-boggling...
(hey, this is the 43rd parallel!)
So I thought it`d be reasonable to assume that much of Florida would at least see their highest annual dewpoints at at least 85 F.
