What type of weather are you hoping for this *winter*?
Summer is over and we can let the summer thread sit idle for 6 months
So what are you looking forward to this winter?
Me:
-Lots of snow - much better than sleet or freezing rain. Good for winter sports, too. I hate it when a blizzard dumps a foot of snow on upstate NY and New England but all we get is miserable cold rain.
-Sunshine - makes short days much more bearable.
-A couple of warm spells into the 60s (16C+) just for a tease
-I wouldn't mind a day or two in single digits just to even it out.
-Early spring. I don't mind winters but by March usually I've had enough. I also dislike the wild fluctuations we have in early spring when the weather can't make up its mind what season it is.

Well summer is never really over in Houston I am hoping for the coldest air I can possibly get this far south!!! We actually had snow around Dec 10th last year I am hoping for more of that, but not holding my breath, I'll be thankful for any cold air I can get.

New York City
- A lot of warm days into the 60's/70's/80's (not just a couple of them which happens every year)
- I'm an excessive Heat Lover but I want a real blizzard or two or three (I can't believe I just said that lol)
- A late start to Winter and an early start to Spring
- No single-digit days/nights
- No teen-digit days/nights
- I know this is impossible but I'd like for some of the trees to retain some "green"
Overall I'd like a mild Winter with no cold days unless it snows on those days, I'd love for Winter to kick off on Christmas Eve with a major blizzard that lasts for days and for Spring to start in late February.

If you are referring to my description, notice that I said "a couple of warm spells". Each spell could be several days long!
Otherwise, not bad at all.
I think I'd like a couple of really cold days because then you can really bundle up without feeling like a wuss. Hat down to your eyebrows and scarf up to your chin. And it will feel like spring when temps climb back up to above freezing.

I'd like to see a "normal" winter lakeside in NE Wisconsin!!! I moved here in Sept. '07 and everyone told me the winters were not bad in Two Rivers because of the lake/rivers!
The last two have been corkers! Normal would be snowfall between 45"-55" for the upper half of the state. However, the last two winters have been closer to 90", I think.
I like sunny days in winter, my least favorite is damp, dreary 30's days with the possibility of sleet and ice! I'll take sunny 20's over damp 30's always!!!

I am hoping for a mild winter like the last 2 with little snow and very little ice!! I hate driving in it now!! When I was younger it was OK, in CA we would just put chains on and go, but here, everything just shuts down with the first flake

No Snow or Sleet because I now have a 2 and 1/2 hour ride to work on the subway and that won't be very good for me at all
