New York City, but it was just late September so it wasn't very cold. Much cooler than here that time of year, though. The coldest weather I've ever personally experienced was here in TN: -14F when I was young. The windchill was about -20F if I remember correctly. The coldest I remember in recent years was last winter. It was 3F one morning when I rode to work and I loved it.

NYC isn't much colder than Middle TN is....in fact Nashville's average low is slighty colder than NYC's during December and January (25 vs. 27).

-43 once in central Minnesota.

What is worse is getting those week long cold snaps where temps fall to -20 to -30 at night and struggle to make it to 0 in the daytime.

We had one of those cold snaps last year.

I figured if it was colder then it probably wasn't by much. They probably just get more snow there. It's often more than cold enough for snow here, but it's also usually sunny when it's that cold.

I just remembered that I've been to Chicago, so that's probably the coldest place I've been. Looks like their average low in January is in the teens.
