Yes it would be cheating (Where do you reckon then?)
what are the rules really? I thought looking up on the internet was ok, as long as you didn't go through a table of climates and match it. The idea is to have an idea of the correct region and climate and then narrow it down.
I got the correct climate but completely wrong region and ended up just looking through cities with that climate until I found it. If that is considered cheating then I shall not post the answer.
Yes, it is St Mary's in the Scilly Isles, 25 miles off the SW tip of England.
Nice one! I thought of the Channel Islands but hadn't heard of the Scilly Isles. I'm a bit suprised you can have winters that mild at such a north latitude. Might be one of the mildest in the world for its latitude? And probably close to the warmest average for its latitude.
Not so much cheating as a bit pointless looking up the answers IMO. The only time I've guessed is when I thought I just knew the answer anyway. But if everybody else is doing it then I suppose that must make it OK...care to guess anyone?

It's very mild there, they have Canary Island date palms growing at 49-50N. I believe they average frost once every 10 years, and the last time it snowed and settled (not including 2009) was a few decades ago, though sleet/snow is recorded falling on around 2 days per year.

In another topic, I'm impressed that England's getting snow already while we haven't gotten any yet. Seattle got a freak early snowfall too this year. Odd. Any snow hit London or Surrey?

Yeah, I've seen pictures of it and at first thought it was the Azores or Bermuda or something. Looks nothing like most of the UK. Lying snow every eight years according to the Philip Eden link I posted a week or so back. It was the warmest place in the UK on Saturday/Sunday with I think 5C, one of the lowest highest temperatures I've ever seen.
