Do you believe that this 2009-10 winter will be a strong one?
With El Nino appearing, a weak one at that, they predict a colder and snowier season in the northeast.
Yes or No?

It better not be lol.
I think there's an El Niño this year so that usually means a warmer Winter.
I say no.

That depends on the strength of the El Nino.
A weak to low moderate El Nino for our country mainly means a colder winter for the most part, but a stronger one would be the opposite.
Weak El Nino's cause;
Colder and snowier winters in the NE.
I think the Mid-west see's less snow but still stays very cold.
Warmer than usual temperatures in the North West
Rainier, colder winters in the SoCa/SW area
But the south remains average but cold.

If it does end up being cold I hope we get tons of snow, I live by the coast and we get tend to get slightly warmer winters and less snow than inland and even Manhattan but I hope this El Nino strengthens.

It was always colder and more snowy than NYC, or even the south shore of LI. I used to listen to Ct. weather reports because it was more like there than any place else.
Very nice. I miss it very much.

It is very nice, The North Shore is a very beautiful place .
I live on the South Shore (also beautiful lol), we get about as much as 5 to 10 inches less snow on average than Manhattan, we get the least amount of snow in the NYC area. Some areas north and west of the city get as much as 50 inches of snow which is more than double the amount of snow we get.

Yes. el nino or not, our summer this year has been the second coldest recorded in history as well last year having a recorded snow fall with colder temps. Which leads me to believe that my area is in for a really very long cold and snowy winter.
