If we go 45F below average our high would be 25F, I'd run away to Florida.

I'll vouch for the cooler, first it was damp and rainy in Iowa on Thursday, Friday quite chilly, and snow on Saturday morning!
I don't have an answer but it has been cooler than normal for the first 10 days of October where I am and where I was this weekend!

I've noticed that your early autumn has been quite chilly by normal standards. Did your panhandle end up getting snow or ice? TWC was predicting it. I was shocked.

45 F below average here would be about 15 F.
That's pretty darn cold for a high even for January, imho.

I heard they reported snow but I don't believe anything stuck. It's really hard to get any reports from out there. The panhandle almost always gets flurries in October, this was more significant than normal I believe. Of course it's all altitude, being 2,000 - 5,000ft above sea level.

The coldest day in Baseball history was played last night in CO. I watched some because it was the Phillies......but mostly because I wanted to see how cold it was. Gosh, they were all so freezing.

I was watching the Broncos/Pats game and it did look pretty cold. People in the stands with winter jackets and hats in mid October .. brrr.
I don't understand how they can play football in Miami, though. Huge guys in all that gear playing the most physical sport... they must be dying out there.

Miami's summer weather is no worse for playing football than say Green Bay in November, imho.
I find it much more frightening the idea of playing football when it's below 25 F (-4 C)
compared to when the heat index is just above 105 F. (40 C)

Actually a lot of players (linemen especially) would still be playing in short sleeves even in freezing weather.
