Currently there are widespread blizzard warnings all the way from North Dakota, all the way down to Oklahoma. Most of ND and SD are in this. I have never seen such a large area of blizzard warning... or at least its been awhile! Even many places in Texas picked up a heavy snow!

Stay safe everyone!

Red areas are BLIZZARD warnings! Pink areas are WINTER STORM warnings!

A little bit of blowing and drifting here which I love and would like to see more of. It seems like eastern Nebraska has had plenty of snow this year and a few blizzards which is somewhere I am considering moving to.

Up here in North Dakota and northwest Minnesota...getting bad early this morning heavy snow and wind gusts to up to 40 mph. Expect an additional foot of snow today this is on top of 9 we have on the ground. Santa will have his snow shoes out.

Tennessee, I know what you're saying about the size of the storm and the area it's covering. Very unusual!!!

Yup, this is the same system that is coming up from northern Tx. It's hitting a lot of states and I don't have to tell you that our weather hasn't been nice. It's been a couple of very unpleasant days and we're only about halfway through this.

---"what a Christmas present it is "---

I thought I had been a " good boy" this year.
As much as I hate snow and shoveling/plowing it, Santa must have thought I was a " bad boy" the way we got dumped on.

Couldn't make it to church , kids couldn't make it here with grand kids, lots of shoveling and snow plowing to do once the winds die down.

On the positive-------got a call from the daughter and grandkids early this morning. I would rather they be at their home and safe than worrying about them traveling to get here.

I guess this is another Christmas that the weather will be the big memory in years to come. ( unlike nasty weather in past Christmas, we are above zero and that is great)

Merry Christmas to everyone from central Minnesota.

Wow, I know. It looks like its rough stuff up there! I notice they updated the map (and it updated on the post as well) and it looks like it basically covers the same areas again tonight! Hopefully it will break soon. All of our snow we got last weekend is gone. It was 62° here on Christmas day and alot of sunshine... after morning rain and that nice rainbow we had... posted a pic on the white Christmas thread.

Everyone stay safe up there!

This is so strange! I watch the NOAA maps all the time and this is really a very slow moving system, geesh, get on with it already!

I can't believe the "red" still on the map. Hope all is well with everyone!

I'm waiting for it to end.

It stopped snowing last night, but started up during the night. We had 16.2 inches at 6 pm and have had quite a bit more again. Unfortunately, our temps will be highs in the single digits and some lows in the minuses so ours won't melt soon.

Maybe we'll have a January thaw like we often do????
