All the trees are budding out. They're beautiful, but that's the only good thing I'll admit about Spring! It is pretty pleasant right now~ mild days in upper 60's and nights in the 40's. Would that we could just stay this temp!
All trees still dead skeletons here, and all the grass still brown after the ice and snow. Temperature barely making the 40's though I have heard that it might reach 50F in half a week's time.
After moderate-hard excersize,
like when you feel a fire or a hot-dryness in your lungs
I actually enjoy breathing mdoeratetly-cold air.
Today was rainy and high in the low 40's F.
This wouldn't make me choose to live here, instead of somewhere tropical,
but it is something that I occaisionally enjoy
and always take for granted
since to me, it is almost-never warm here.
Assuming I'm active,
30's F and 40's F is great air to breathe
even if these temps can be unkind to my skin.
*I'm trying to picture what you southerners might think you're missing, not having cold weather.
We had more wet snow out this way late last week in some of the inland suburbs of Vancouver..temperature was right around freezing in the morning... not sure the exact temp. However, it was gone by mid morning though as it warmed up.... downtown and suburbs at sea level like Richmond didn't receive any snow at all though. it's amazing here how a small change in elevation can change the precipitation type. It will probably be spring here for the next 3 months.. so I better get used to it

LOL, it doesn't appear that ALL southerners share my affinity for cold weather, but you know that ILNC & I sure do! Right now, I'm just "hunkering down" and trying to press through and endure till we get those temps I like in the mid-Fall again! Still hoping for a good late season cold front to blow through as well. Sometimes we can still get a pretty good cold snap as late as April...we can only hope!

I know, I meant the southerners on City-Data that like cold.
I'm trying to figure out what sensations are actually appealing about cold...
and all I could come up with is it can be nicer to breathe.
Have you ever thought about what cold does to you, that you enjoy?
For me,
I've had plenty of time to think about what I love about heat.
I like having full body warmth everywhere,
on a hot day I might enjoy an slightly-elevated heart rate,
I like being able to dress so I have a lot of direct skin-to-air contact,
the next best thing wearing very-breathable clothing and finally,
sometimes I love the "toasting" sensation of hot sun or hot pavement on my skin.

I know, I'm just thinking about it now. For me Summer will always be far above Winter.

I think with me it's just the absence of feeling too hot. I like the feeling of being comfortable in the house, for example, as I said before without having to have the a/c blowing in order not to be hot. The heater doesn't seem to make me feel as miserable. I also like the feeling of snuggling down into a blanket when you're just slightly cold and warming up. Also, if you are dressed for it, I think cold air feels invigorating. Mostly, I just like the absence of heat though, as I said! Overall, I just feel better physically when it's cold rather than hot. Not even sure why, just do.

Are you more an indoors than outdoors kinda person?
I definitely have a stronger preference for outdoors,
though I often don't mind being inside a few hours too.
I'm happiest being outside at least an hour a day,
even if that's walking to and from my car, getting mail etc.
I'm guessing the famous sunny skies also makes a lot of weather feel like it has heat.
Anything under somewhere from 75-85 F feels like it lacks heat, assuming weak-to-no sun, or strong wind.
Any time from Sep-May, (9 months a year )
it's easy for us to have 2-3 completely sunless days in a row,
so parked cars don't have "heat" when you get in, even if it's in the high 60's F.
