Happy I won on the Melbourne Cup and also happy that in 2 days time I'm flying up to Port Douglas in far North Queensland for a mates wedding.

Forecast is for top temps around 30°C / 86°F and overnight lows around 25°C / 77°F.

Congrats - hope it was a good return

I came in 2nd, but with a total outlay of $5 (I do not normally gamble) it was hardly going top break the bank balance. Very enjoyable to watch though .

I could do with an excuse to go somewhere where the sun shines for more than just a few consecutive days or so at the moment . Actually I have a couple of cousins in Perth who I haven't seen in a long while ...

Yes, go for that extra sun. I was in the unlucky zone here in Oct - the 5% of the country that wasn't sunnier than average.

The last few springs has been hotter and (mostly) drier than usual hence I (and several others) enjoying this year's (so far) wet, cloudy and cold "spring" weather as much as we can because knowing Australia, the next spring season, and probably the next after that, will be horribly hot, dry and dusty.
