The second half of January at Heathrow was 3.0C and we've had 4.0C so far for February, and where I live up to a degree below that - 1 or 2C below average, nothing amazing. Oddly though it hasn't been below -1.5C all February, just the persistently low maxima have made the difference.

I assume 3°C or 4°C is your maxima? What's your minima?
Its 8c. But it warms up really slowly here and its usually only entering double figures about second week of april. But thats usually last snow so not always.

That's the overall mean. For February we (or Heathrow at least) has had average highs of 6.4 and lows of 1.6, can't be bothered working out the exact numbers for the second half of January but the data is available here. We haven't had many cold Februarys recently, hence this year spring seems later in coming without the negative anomalies being all that special.

I assume 8°C is your March max. I suspect plants are affect more by min. My March min is -3.9°C, so perhaps too cold for daffodils? What's your March min?

A lot milder than us, and some days with really small diurnal range. Our average so far is 1.7/-7.2.
Unhappy it's not going to warm up into the 40s next week
