April is also a spring month. This for some balance (April report for the UK).

The weather has been awful the past few days. Hot and humid. Today wasn't hot, but was still uncomfortable with the rain and humidity (highs in the 70s). We were in the upper 80s over the weekend. They're calling for 70s and 80s all week.

Hopefully the long term forecast is right. Calling for highs back in the 60s where they belong.

I need to put my window unit back in.

I wish we could trade. 46 sounds really nice right about now.

I love this weather we're having lately (today was a bit too humid though) but I hate the fact that I can't fall asleep when its this warm (No AC yet). Last night I finally fell asleep at around 2 AM and even then it was still 84 degrees.

Already seen that. I was talking about this May, its synoptic setup, and its forecast.

Yeah it would have been nice to install my window unit. Would have been turned on a couple times already.

Luckily it cools off enough at night with an open window and ceiling fan.

Today isn't too bad, but walking around in the sun like I was earlier wasn't fun.

You're so lucky, we had all the window open last night and it still felt like how it felt mid-day. The fans entered their second day of operation lol.

Yes today is nice, sunny 83 degrees and breezy/windy.

March was also below average (and as cold as -9C here on a couple nights), as well in winter February, and January, severely so. Oh, and last December, by 2C. In fact, the winter has been the coldest in 30 years.

Since December the UK has been in a weather pattern dominated by strong northern high pressure blocking with only brief interludes of milder weather, mostly in April. This is not mere conjecture, but look at the link below (scroll down a bit) to see examples of 500hpa Geopotential charts all taken within that period, and showing distinct similarities:

http://www.ukweatherworld.co.uk/forum/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=35232&start=651 (broken link)

But a notable observation is that given the 2 week outlook of strong northern blocking this May, there is a near certainty that we will record the 4th below average month this year out of 5, and the NAO has been consistently showing massive negative anomalies. The NAO phenomnum very closely affects temperature deviations in the UK, as evidenced by many previous examples, including this latest run of months.

Another interesting note: Our current May temperature so far (and with the projections for the next week added) is running some 0.6C COLDER than the mean temperature for the month of January 2007 (a mild month).
