Not the same type of christians. American christians are mostly based on British religions i.e Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian.

i was talking about US in general not jst Florida... Florida has a lot of Cubans and people from South America tho... my point was to show that religion in America is totally mixed and not on pair with NI, every region is different.

Protestants have a strong belief in god they take the bible very literally (i.e lead life by bible) and many do goto church but the vast majority only attend church the odd time for a special occasion but the ones that do have a very strong belief and church is a large part of their life, for example, many in my school would goto church for BB and GB every single night or they would take part in charity events promoting god.

And then there are Lutherans, Catholics, Orthodox, etc. And many of the Protestants are more evangelical than anything typically found in the UK.

Don't think you realise what you are dealing with when it comes to NI protestants. Particularly Presbyterians.

I imagine the Protestants in the US are more extreme and evangelical than in the UK. There's a very strong religious influence here. It influences culture, politics, and public policy. Might be a shock to people from Europe.

I live in an area that's more Catholic. Many are non-practicing and it's generally more socially liberal here. This area is quite different than say Texas or South Carolina. That's something to keep in mind. The northeastern US, west coast (California, Oregon, and Washington), and various cities throughout the country (including the south) are less religious.
