Looks like the record high wasn't broken. I certainly would not like having 80 F temperatures in February.

I saw on the news this morning that the power is still out to lots of parts in and around Christchurch.

He lives in ChCh's eastern suburbs (where my parents are) which is one of the worst affected for power outages and water. Anyway, hope for the best...

Temperature at sunrise = 3.3C
Temperature at lunchtime = 3.6C
Temperature at sunset = 3.3C

Plus no sun, no breaks in the cloud and sporadic light rain, I reckon today has to have been the most boring day's weather ever experienced anywhere. It was 4.7C in the middle of the night though, so one of those nights warmer than the daytime.

That's some freaky weather. Should be easy to work out the daily average though.

I have relocated and finally got internet working, albeit with a very slow dial-up connection. Lots of damage everywhere and the death toll is predicted to reach about 250. Many historic landmarks have been completely destroyed -- the spire fell off the cathedral, which is the ultimate symbol of ChCh in many ways. It really looks just like a war zone -- especially since the army (who are helping with rescue efforts) have brought in their tanks and are cruising around the CBD amongst all the rubble.

The weather was very cool and gloomy for most of the week following the earthquake but has now turned warm and sunny -- 29 C today and I am still sweating in my room (upstairs room with sun-facing, non-opening windows) at 11:15 PM.

Good to hear you're OK Chester, quite a few of us were concerned.

Spring is still 3 weeks away, but Environment Canada is predicting colder than normal spring this year

CP24- Environment Canada forecasts a colder than normal spring

Hopefully the groundhogs were right, and they were wrong (as much as I would normally like to believe in science and weather forecasting)

Unhappy to have fallen asleep and drueled all over my accounting book. Too cheap to buy coffee today.
