Dude that is why I love the midwest, all the great variety! I could never live where the temp is very predictable all year long!

I'm heading to Chgo. tomorrow on a bus trip for the day, hottest day of the summer so far and I'll be in the city! What a hoot!

Winter temps are generally very stable here while summer temps can have huge day-to-day variation. I suspect it's the same situation in England.

It's nothing unusual to have a high of 32 C / 90 F one day and 16 C / 60 F the next in summer. But winter temps are much more settled -- highs are fairly reliably in the 10 - 13 C range, sometimes dropping down to 8 C or going up to 16 C, but rarely outside of this range.

So a high of only 6 C, while by no means unheard of, is quite unusual -- especially when coupled with sub-zero lows.

But anyway, the MetService forecast has been revised and is looking better now (a couple degrees warmer on most days). Still, I wouldn't mind some really cold weather if it meant snow. I haven't seen snow here for over five years. I'm hoping we'll at least get some in the hills.

Well we did have a maximum temperature of -6°C last December, 11°C below the average of 5°C. Some sea level locations also managed such "low" highs.

Maybe that's because we have the European continent near us and can get much colder cold snaps than NZ.

In this age of "global warming", the UK in summer bucks the trend as per usual and is on the way to the coldest July since the fail of 2007. Of course we'll probably have a record warm November which nobody will care a fig about.

Wow! At this point 45 sounds wonderful, doesn't it??? Two Rivers nickname is the "Cool City" not so much lately! Our average summer temp is low to mid-70's, no 80's, this year, lots of 80's.

Our trip to Chgo. did not allow for free time on Michigan Ave. like they originally thought, probably a good decision considering it was 100 or so that day! The Millionaires Quartet was awesome, I would go see it again. In fact, it comes to Appleton in Feb. so I probably will see it then, too!

I just moved my lamp while it was on and there was a loud frightning pop and it went off.

The bulb is fine but the lamp seems to have blown up. So I threw the stupid lamp out of the window.

Yup! 45 sounds so wonderful, but it FELT way better than it sounded. I knew going up they were about 45-55 degrees on the summit. And I was looking forward to the trip, but after driving up there and feeling it, it felt refreshing. I just closed my eyes for a bit, felt the sun, felt the light 5-8mph breeze and imagined it was a fall night or nice day to lay down and take a nice nap.

The weather forecast is an utter sodding joke for this week. High of just 50°F in the forecast. For real?
