Well veggienut, I wouldn't even try to figure it out...but I do know receptions can be a lot of fun, so if you think you could have some, why not go...as for the money part, that's up to you, though I've always thought it rather crass to ask guests for money...give if you can, don't feel badly if you can't.

Some people do a small wedding, so that they can have a party reception. It's a celebration. You either accept, or decline. You are over thinking this. You may want to try and figure out why....

I went to the reception and I gave her a gift of money as she asked, but perhaps I shouldn't of gone or given her what I did.


You two are late in responding, cause the reception was last Friday~!

Glad you had a nice time. I've already been married before but I had a courthouse wedding and my parents threw a reception for us a couple of months later. This second time around I do not want a wedding but I think someone does (hahaha). I'd like to have a huge reception and forego the wedding but that won't happen!
