I'm not opposed to the concept. I'm not set on it, either. An inexpensive ring for both people makes enough sense to me. But I think some people spend way too much money on jewelry--I could only deal with it myself if the ring were very inexpensive. Too many other (better) ways one could be spending that money.

I think wedding rings and engagement rings are pretty much a waste of money. I bought my wife a pretty nice engagement ring ... three princess cut stones, .4,.4 and .9 ct in a platinum band. Very nice stones. She likes it. She wore it for about a month.

We've been married almost two years. I think we stopped wearing our wedding rings in the first month. I just can't get used to wearing a ring. I wish I would have saved the money instead. We would have had a much better downpayment on our house.

The concept is nice.

Thanks, I have already been looking at those. I think I would like a combination of Sapphire and two small diamonds. Both being incredibly destructive environment and ethics wise, I am seriously considering synthetic stones , using recycled white gold or platinum or maybe re-using antique gems from antique rings.

My wife was happy with a $200 diamond from Sears and a house instead. Smart girl.

Debeers' brilliant marketing plan of "2 month's salary" is no different then late night infomercials. Marketing genius.

But pearls and emeralds are always nice too
an emerald is a soft stone, therefore, it is not meant to be worn daily.

It may be subject to cracking. Many people love the emerald and the color green, and are not told about this.

Isn't there some sort of rule that if the male breaks it off then she gets to keep the ring. But if she breaks it off then she is suppose to give back the ring...
