I have a friend who will be married in February. Her wedding shower is next wk! Is this too soon? I always thought they were at least a mth before?

Yep, it's early. Most showers I've been to have been 1 or 2 months before the wedding. In your friend's case, that will be right around the holidays. They probably want to have it early while people still have time to attend and money for a good gift!

Yep, the holidays and perhaps the weather.
Guests might not want to go through snowstorms to get to a shower.

We are in Texas. We never have severe snow storms. lol We usually dont even get any snow to begin with lol

I think they are planning ahead because of the upcoming Holiday Season where so many are busy with activities, parties, family gatherings and such.

I did the same thing when I married my Ex Husband because we got married the end of January, it was easier on everyone time wise and financially.

I havent been to a wedding shower. My best friend got married about 6yrs ago (I was a bridesmaid) & she didnt want a wedding shower because she said they already had everything they needed. Are we still supposed to buy a gift for the wedding shower AND wedding?

Yes. If you are invited to both (and if you're invited to the shower you should absolutely be invited to the wedding), two gifts are required.
