Not really...the fact that you, like many others, do the courthouse thing could have been brought up right away. Many similar posts start with that tidbit of info.

You COULD have said that upfront, instead of being deliberately vague (with 'wedding').

Your initial post makes no sense without mentioning that you are actually getting married at the courthouse prior to.

With that info, I say no you don't really need a dj. I have heard of plenty of people getting married on their own and then just having a reception some time afterwards.

That's almost what I feel like doing, actually.

It isn't a wedding, it is a reception.

A DJ isn't necessary, but if you are going to cut a cake, have toasts, or any of that stuff, you might want someone to coordinate, time, and announce those things. If you are just eating and socializing, then no.

No DJ needed. You may want to set up a playlist with background music for the brunch on an Ipod hooked into the sound equipment at the venue, or your own portable speakers.
