I am having a wedding of around 115 people next October. Ceremony/reception will all be at the same place. The caterer we have includes one station at the cocktail hour and 6 h'or doeuvres. We can choose what station we want so I chose cheese/meats and then a mozzarella making station. I was thinking of adding 2 more stations. A guacamole and taco station and a tapas station. Is this enough? I didn't want everyone to come rushing in and then crowd at the one station so figured should add stations and position them at different parts of the room. Is 6 h'or doeuvres enough too? They also don't include dessert except for the cake so was thinking of doing a dessert table with 3 desserts and then having 2 passed desserts. I just want everyone to leave full and satisfied! Then since we live in philly were thinking of ordering cheesesteaks/soft pretzels for late night. Any suggestions? Does this seem like the right amount of food. Thanks!

Is this meant to be finger foods in place of a sit-down dinner?

In that case, it sounds like too much food. I don't think you need any of the stations, and the selection of hors d'oeuvres is fine. One dessert is plenty, and cake if you're cutting and serving the wedding cake. Cheesesteaks and pretzels seem kind of heavy for late night eating, IMO.

I never really think hordorves is necessary if you're doing a sit down dinner. Sounds like too much, you don't want your guest filling - then be too full for dinner. If you have hordorves I would go with a small amount. Have you checked with different caterers to get their opinions.

Good points.

It also depends on how long the cocktail "hour" is and how long before the sit down meal starts.

If you're not superstitious, I highly recommend taking your photos prior to your ceremony. My husband and I did this, complete with a private first look moment. That moment was wonderful and amazing, but it also made it so our "cocktail hour" was really only twenty minutes long and all we had were fruit and cheese.

You must have friends who eat like horses.

That's a ton of food. You might consider ways to donate any excess to homeless shelters.

People will be in a carb coma before they even get to dinner!
