Hello everyone,
I feel kind of silly writing here but I am new to the area and I'm feeling a little 'stuck'. I moved to Florida from Michigan last year and I must say that I absolutely love it here. I recently lost my job and am having a hard time finding many job openings. I have worked in the healthcare field the last 4 years but am open to new experiences. I am hoping to find a job where I am interacting and getting to know people. If you don't have any specific suggestions on where to apply, do you know of any where that I could go that would help me find a decent job? Know of any decent job opening web sites? Also, I haven't had a chance to meet many people at all- I have been thinking about volunteering or joining a group of some kind. (I'm 24, female) Any suggestions in that area? I'd appreciate any help! Thank you

Try using indeed.com or one of the other multi-site job search engines. They list positions including whats available on the big job boards and many listings for other companies in the area. Use specific keywords related to your title or skills. If you are in the healthcare industry, your chances of finding a job are still good even in a down economy. Depending on your skills, you can also try healthcare staffing agencies. There is also the AWI (Agency for Workforce Innovation) They may have positions that may not be listed on the commercial job boards but there can be a lot of overlap between the two. You can register in their system if you already haven't. For meeting and volunteering, you may want to try a faith based organization. Reach out to your local place of worship and ask them where help is needed. Volunteering is one of the best forms of networking too. You will do OK here, healthcare is always needed and will always be in demand in FL. If you were in any other industry I would say don't come here w/o a job.

Young Professionals of the Palm Beaches
I've made some good friends going to these young professional events.
Might even find some job leads there.
I used to bartend to make ends meet until my business got going. Good money, and you meet a lot of people as well...

Thanks for your help! I was looking through indeed.com for over 30 mins before I got suspicious, everything looked "too good to be true". When I did a google search for reviews, I realized it was a scam. Whoops!

There are a lot of scammers on the big job search boards, be very wary of some listings. Indeed and the other search engines like it just aggregate the posts from them so you don't have to search multiple job sites.
