The crime indices range 1-10. A higher number corresponds with more crime.
Source Sperling's Best Places

Although overall crime in Broward declined, the murder rate rose similar to Palm Beach County.

"Coral Springs saw a nearly 11 percent increase from 2005 to 2006"

"Pembroke Pines saw an 8.5 percent increase in its crime rate."

Murders increase in Broward County; overall crime drops

I already stated that some areas east of Jog Road are not the safest, look at my other postings. Wellington is a long way west of Jog Road.

Again Lake Worth, the statistics are in the city limits of Lake Worth which is a long way from Wellington, your talking east of I-95 for the most part.

"We could of moved to Palm Beach County, but we chose not to because this was a better place to live after doing some research. "

Again that's your opinion but remember the infamous term from the 1990's in Palm Beach County... "Browardization".

Browardization, a noun, is a pejorative term for the development of western Palm Beach County. It is typically accompanied by a rebuke of overcrowded schools, congested roads, and increased taxes.

You based your stats off of Sperlings bestplaces. Notoriously inaccurate source. Fact just proved to you that Broward, despite what Sperlings best places wants to tell you, is a safer county. We still had a fewer number of murders in 2006 than Palm Beach County, despite having, oh say, about 400 thousand more people. We are still home to the 10th safest city in the US. Palm Beach County is home to one of the most dangerous cities in the U.S, West Palm Beach.

Total Index Crime by County, 2006
Broward-87 Murders,1,753,162 people
Palm Beach-92 Murders, 1,287,987

You are showing nothing but bias. Leave it alone, this thread is about Palm Beach County, not about Broward Vs Palm Beach, and Boca Raton has better high schools. She should move to Boca, because the High Schools are proven to be better than Wellington. Wellington is a nice place, not denying that, but Boca is nicer, and more likely than not, the nasty robbers are driving in from Delray Beach than Parkland, I would think.

Wellington is a relatively safe place for her to locate. It's a nice city, and I would recommend it. It's just that Boca has better schools, thats all, and the crimes that occur in Boca Raton can't be blamed on its safer (But yeah, not as pretty looking) southern neighbors. End it from here, and tell her some more about Wellington, since you are the one that lives up that way .

Wellington is a Village, though the population you would think it's a city. There is no downtown, it's akin to Weston when it comes to a comparison of how it is somewhat. Boca has somewhat of a downtown city'ish feel you won't find that in Wellington which is mainly residental surburbia.

I don't agree that Boca is "better", that's a matter of opinion. Each has it's own positives and negatives.

The school systems in Wellington are very highly rated, again I wouldn't say Boca's are "better". Unless your kids go to a private school then which you could state the best choice overall, but it's no joke that Wellington is highly desirable for families in many ways.

The 2 murders you listed in 2005 in Wellington was a domestic related double murder in the Black Diamond Gated Community, the guy murdered his wife and son then turned himself into the Police. A real tragic thing but not what you see elsewhere in the county, drug or gang related.

Yeah, those type of things can happen anywhere. Down here in Sunrise, the 2 murders in 2006 happened in one of the quietest neighborhoods in South Florida. It was a similar situation, similar neighborhood. Wellington is not bad. I just noticed that Spanish River High had higher graduation rates than Wellington HS. I think honestly, if you keep an eye on your children, they could probably do good at any school. Wellington HS still had great standardized test scores, and if you read the parental reivews on Greatschools.net i found out that a lot people are actually finding Spanish River over rated.
