Hello, I currently reside in Phoenix but my grandparents and disabled uncle live in Boynton Beach right off Woolbright in a retirement community. My son plays competitive tennis and one of his coaches has relocated to Delray as of last year so we have been down there visiting and have spent some time participating in the tennis programs and helping my grandmother, etc. My mother and I were discussing possibly buying a condo together in that area so that some of us could be closer to the gparents and in case of emergencies we'd have a place to stay. It would also give me a place to stay if my son wants to spend some time in FL training.

So, what I need to know is: how expensive is it to own a condo? HOA's? Other fees or taxes I need to know about? What about homeowner's insurance? Particular areas to stay away from or particular communities? We would be looking at a 2 bedroom around 900 -1000 square feet and, of course, a community with tennis courts. Is this a viable thing to do or would it cost us a lot to seal it up? Control mold, pests, etc? Thanks!

There's a condo community in Delray called Lavers Delray Racquet center that is designed around tennis. It has a bunch of courts(12 I think) and is in a good East Delray location close to shopping/restaurants, 5 minutes to the beach, and about 10 minutes to Woolbright. The buildings are a little older, but you can pick a unit up just over 100k.
Condo dues are around 320-340 a month and that includes your exterior insurance.
Murano is a lot newer, but it's a little further West, and only has one tennis court.
There are communities at higher price points as well.
