Hi everyone,

I am thinking of taking a job in Boca Raton and moving my family down there from Chicago. We have a 3 year old child and are trying to figure out where the best place in that area is to live and raise a family. I am willing to commute up to 45 minutes if necassary. We are looking for a safe low crime area but one that also isnt a retirement community and has some things to do as my wife and I are only in our late 20's. Any help would be appreciated.

Boca Raton itself is a fine place to live. Low crime, a small downtown area, and close to many other entertainment and downtown districts, including Delray Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Lake Worth and West Palm Beach.

Just to the south of Boca Raton is the Parkland/Coral Springs area. This is not a retirement area and full of young families that moved there because of the neighborhoods and the schools. This article Parkland Lifestyle may give you a better insight into the area. Coral Springs is similar to Parkland however the home prices are lower.

We live in a neighborhood called Hidden Valley and we love it. Its a real neighborhood where everyone knows everyone and there are tons of kids and family activities. It is east boca and 5 mins from the beach and Atlantic Ave (which is the place to go for dining, concerts, craft fairs, holidays etc...).
