They are very rarely available but Mirabella might work. If you are ok with a townhouse Cielo is decent size for a rental.

Thanks, but coming from a small apt in NYC, we really want a house with at least a tiny outdoor space.

Units in Cielo are around 2200 sqft and have some (limited) out door space.
As you've found out your search isn't going to be very easy there are only a couple gated communities in the price range you are looking in and they rent very quickly.

Our words exactly. Kids were begging us for any amount of small space outdoors. Not to mention the 200 requests we had for 'no more shared walls.'

We moved from AZ to Palm Beach Gardens 5 years ago. We looked in PGA---there are several subdivisions but none were really great for young kids. To tell you, we settled in on an area off of PGA Blvd. Great neighborhood. There aren't any houses for sale on our street but there are two other neighborhoods in our area that are child friendly. If you want more input, let me know via thread.
