I live in the palm beach county area and would like to know if someone had a great experience with a plastic surgeon for blepharoplasty? I bruise and keloid very easily and need someone great for this procedure. Any advise or referrals? Thanks!

I recommend Greg Delange of the Esthetica Institute. While I did not have your particular procedure, I've had other "maintenance" procedures done by him. I too bruise/scar easily because I have very fair skin. I could not be happier with the results, his bedside manner and the professionalism of his staff.

You could also consult with an oculoplastic surgeon who does cosmetic work, which may be your safest route. The eyelids are tricky and you need someone who does this operation all the time. A very frequent complication of that procedure is a little too much skin removal, leaving you with eyelids that don't close all the way.

I would ask your other doctors, such as your dermatologist, if they know of anyone really good, even if it means traveling a bit. They actually see the results and hear the good or bad feedback from patients.

Dr. David Tse at Bascom Palmer in Miami is the best in the business. I would also recommend Dr. Wendy Lee at Bascom Palmer. I don't think either of them take any appointments at the Palm Beach Gardens location -- you'd have to travel to Miami. But it's worth it.

Dr. Tse did my surgery (I have ptosis that was severely affecting my vision) and I am very happy with the result.

He does blepharoplasties as well.

I can understand wanting to see an oculoplastic surgeon but there are quite a few dermatologists who can provide this service as well.

These dermatologists (like Dr. Weiss) have typically undergone an additional year of training beyond regular dermatology in what is now being called procedural dermatology. This encompasses Mohs surgery, reconstructive techniques, cosmetics (ranging from simple botox/fillers to more advanced procedures like blepharoplasties and liposuction), and laser surgery.

Whatever way the OP chooses, I think it's worth a couple of consultations to see if you are comfortable with the surgeon you select (regardless of training background). And of course, always ask to see sample images of the surgeon's work

Thank you all. I had restylane under my eye and had complications. Bumps started forming near the tear troughs. Traveling to get to a good doctor is okay but because of repeated follow up visits or complications I would rather stay local. Areas that I'm near are Jupiter, Palm Beach Gardens. North Palm or Palm Beach?

There is probably one great doctor doing them near any given area, so the trick is to find out who that is. The person is probably well-known to the doctors and nurses in the area who work in opthamology.

I'd call some opthamologist's offices, an eye center, or even a short-term surgical center and ask to speak to a nurse in each place to see if they can recommend anyone. If you hear the same name come up several times, that could be your man (or woman). Then you just have to go spend some $$$ on consults.

What's the issue that you don't like? If it's just loose skin and crow's feet, I worked in an eye center at a teaching hospital years ago, and some of the best undereye results I saw were from CO2 laser with double passes on the deeper lines. It also has a shrinking effect on any loose skin, so keep that in mind - could be good or bad in your case. But for laser, again, you also need a specialist who does a lot of it.

Erbium laser or chemical peels, on the other hand, did very little other than a mild temporary freshening.
