Both are very nice areas and similar in they offer a small town feel with a laid back waterfront lifestyle.
Jupiter is a larger city in comparison to Ocean Ridge with more to do as far as restaurants and shopping are concerned, but Ocean Ridge is pretty close to downtown Delray. Jupiter is in the process of opening a nice waterfront mall and has some great waterfront restaurants right on the inlet.
Both have easy inlet access, but Jupiter's inlet is much wider.
Jupiter has the Loxahatchee River which will give you some very wide water views, but the intra-coastal is also very wide through ocean ridge.
Jupiter has some very nice country club communities with boating access as well if that is of interest.
The size of boat you have/lifestyle/price range etc will play a part in between the which would be better for you.

Boynton inlet is a fixed bridge.....if you have a tall boat you are going to be miserable idling to Boca or Palm Beach inlet 30-40 minutes away to get to the ocean. The Boynton inlet can be very challenging on a changing tide or if the ocean is rough.

OR is a small town, Jupiter is not. Area west of OR is fair and you will have to go to Delray's Atlantic Ave for any decent restaurants. Jupiter will have a larger selection of homes (more waterfront) especially if you consider Tequesta as well (town north of Jupiter, lots of waterfront there also). OR and Tequesta would be both considered small towns.

As said above, OR is a small town, Jupiter is not. In OR you can get close to your government. The police department is excellent and close, so security is excellent. Ocean Ridge's focus is the ocean... Jupiter has it, but also the river and more waterfront available. Also consider what you like to do... Ocean Ridge is closer to the big cities of Ft. Lauderdale and WPB... Visit both areas... you can FEEL the difference. I live in OR. Good luck!
