I am looking and tired of searching condos or homes in Venice, I have specific criteria and would be between Venice and West Palm Beach. I am currently staying in Venice and it is appealing, however, still not convinced I should buy here. I have found a couple nice condos, one with a good view of the gulf, my realtor is pushing to have me purchase that one, I might, but it was the first one she took me to and I will not be pushed.

I am looking for a 2/BR, 2/Bath with furniture in the 200K-300K within walking distance to beach, eateries, bus. I will not drive, but am a good walker (not a bicyclist either). Will I have good luck if I go to WPB finding what I look for?

I had also considered Naples, but it is more costly and I must stay within my budget

Thanks

Naples is phenomenal, but you are so right about the pricing. Venice has real good deals, but I would advise you to see what the pricing trend has been during and after the crash. I find useful information there.

You are very wise to not be pushed into purchasing something.

you will have no problem fining a condo you are looking for within your budget, in fact you can get something east of A1A directly on Intracoastal and right across the street from the ocean for $300K or less.

what is A1A?

I have a realtor working on finding me properties in the WPB area. I looked and compared the Venice v WPB areas and there is a slight difference in the cost of living, i.e., food, transportation which is of importance to me, but not that much. My preference is beach life style. I find Venice too laid back (actually older group and not very mobile, if you get what I mean) not much entertainment, is WPB livelier?

Keep in mind most of the condos downtown West Palm have fairly high condo fees ($600+) a month. It will be tough to get a view in the 2-300 range right downtown and the buildings that do have views are going to have the high fees. Unless you go with one of the smaller older buildings just South of downtown.

if you want a view they why bother living downtown WPB? if I wanted a view I would buy an oceanfront property. IMO you buy downtown for the lifestyle, not the view.

Don't you mean east of Federal ? Remember, WPB doesn't have a beach. Palm Beach is the beach.

You can get a place on A1A in what is called South Palm Beach. From there you can walk to Lake Worth beach.

The west side of A1A is the intracoastal (Lake Worth lagoon) and the east side is the ocean side.

You can get a place east of Federal on the west side of the intracoastal.

You could conceivably walk to downtown Lake Worth from South Palm beach if you got a place near Lake Ave which is where the bridge is. The bridge goes over the intracoastal (Lake Worth lagoon) to downtown.

You could also go to the so-called casino on Lake Worth beach.

The area should start getting more exciting as new owners are going to renovate the old Gulfstream Hotel.
