After doing research I would love to move to either of these areas, mainly due to the fact that it's close to the racetrack (PBIR), there is plenty of property around you (usually over an acre) and best of all, no HOA.

BUT.... after hearing some things from people I talk to about it, I have some questions.

1. It is true that the same house in Jupiter Farms that costs 600K would go for around a million in say Parkland. Someone I work with says the reason for that is because pretty much all of Jupiter is a flood zone, he mentioned that a friend of his lives there and during any major storm he is evacuated. Is this really the case or this person exaggerating?

2. I heard that getting homeowners insurance is very difficult in much of the farms and the acreage, is this true?

3. What is the crime rate like in these parts of Jupiter and Loxahatchee?

4. Not all of the roads in these areas are paved. I saw a lot of nice homes then do a google street view and they're on a dirt road. Do you have to worry about them turning muddy and risk of getting stuck in a rainstorm?

5. Is it going to be a hike to get to the nearest Publix or Winn-Dixie? Speaking of which, I know that supermarkets cater to the local clientele, will it be an issue with availability of kosher foods or will there be an overabundance of hillbilly stuff? Not trying to be rude here, but there's no easy way to ask.

6. A post a long time ago hinted that people in these areas have a tendency to test fire their shotguns often. How big is the risk of being hit by a stray bullet?

7. How is the availability of Comcast cable internet in these areas? Yes, I'm one of those people who's desire to move to an area depends on the availability of good internet.

8. Last but not least, any truth to the "cancer cluster" in Loxahatchee? Is it real, or as Sheldon Cooper would say, "hokem?"

Don't live in either place but have friends in both places:

1. Not a apples/apples analogy. Not all of Jupiter is flood zone, get a FEMA map and you will see.
2. Homeowners insurance is tougher for wood frame houses (lots of those in both areas) and no fire hydrants = higher insurance costs but not impossible.
3. Lots of petty crime incidents, no rules to some people = anarchy! Jupiter Farms had 2 weird murders last year. Both guys killed at home (one was robbery by someone they knew, other seems to be a business dispute......not random). Lox has a few similar incidents. There are illegals living 10 to a house out there.....remember no rules right!
4. Roads are fine, dusty and washboard but certainly not flooded or unpassable
5. Both areas have their own Publix. Kosher probably won't be widely available. Publix sells what is in demand.
6. Shotguns don't fire bullets but you will hear random shots occasionally.
7. No idea on comcast but I'm sure if you punch in an address to their website you will can find out if they service that area
8. Cancer cluster was never proven but it certainly didn't stop the lawyers from trying!

Palm Beach country estates is also nearby and they offer city water if you want to hook up to it.

It sounds like you should probably stick to Parkland.

First off.... that isn't very nice!

Secondly, I wouldn't move to Parkland even if money wasn't an issue. For one thing, out of all the subdivisions there are only two - TWO - that are HOA-free and the city has a very high percentage of S.U.P.P.'s - Stuck Up Pretentious People. Same reason why I would never move to Boca Raton.
