Anything in a nice area in Broward or Palm Beach county is likely to start at $300. Prices are falling though, so by the time you are ready to move that might not be the case.
I think alot of people are leaving FL because of the combined high cost of housing and insurance and the relatively low wages. I like it here, but my husband is in a field (law) where he can make a decent buck. |

I personally live in Palm Beach Gardens and plan (try) to sell and buy something bigger because my family is getting bigger. No doubt I will stay here in Palm Beach Gardens. As for Riviera Beach being so close, I have not seen this to be a problem at all. The schools are great, the city youth athletics programs are first class (especially baseball), and great shopping and dining. I rarely ever have reason to leave the city limits. Yes, we have a city hall, community center, police dept., several fire dept., library, etc. Most of that is located at Burns Rd. and Military Tr. The people here are quite diverse also. There are celebritys, doctors, lawyers, tradesmen, lots of business owners here, and yes.. snowbirds.
In my line of work I have always found Boca to have some of the worst people to deal with. And many others who work all over PBC will tell you the same. They ALL think they are high-end customers and are entitled to the best, but they are the worst paying customers I have seen in all of PBC. Dealing with people from the northend and southend are like day and night. And the people get better the further north you go. Why is it so hard to make people happy on a small $500 job in a 700K house in Boca, yet easy as cake to get paid on a $3,500 in a 5 million dollar estate in Jupiter Island? And the people in Boca are known to try to talk you down... after you complete the work. This is just a generalization, I know there are nice people and bad people in every town. I just see more of the bad in Boca, and I am not the only one. That's why I don't even give quotes in Boca anymore. |

Palm Beach Gardens is lovely and yes, it does have a park and walk area west of I-95 called mid town and PGA shops across the street. The "Downtown" mall is a quaint out-doors type of shopping. Then there is the Palm Bch Gardens mall. There are several areas west of PGA that provide a country town living that is West on Northlake Blvd. called the Acreage or Loxahatchee. You could find beautiful homes for the fraction of cost of PBG but the schools and area is great. Also, you can go to Wellington easily as well....its the best of both worlds in a country setting!

Live in PBG for 20 years from the age of 21. Alot has changed and mostly for good. It is a nice place to live, very family oriented but has alot to do for single people too. Upscale and will continue that way. It is leaps and bounds ahead of any other area in Palm Beach County with possibly Delray Beach if you are close to the beach. At least for my money.
As for the distance it is about 15 minutes from West Palm Beach & Palm Beach. 15 minutes from the airport, 30 minutes to Boca, 1 hour to Miami. Rush hour traffic for a commute I do not know as I have a brutal 3.5 mile commute. Close to the beach too. Unless you are in the Western Communities which is West of the Turnpike then at most is 10 minute drive. Hope this helps. |
