In that price range you can live pretty well in any area you choose. I've been in Boca since 2004 and it remains my #1 recommendation for anyone who asks. Schools are excellent whether you go public or private. The small city of Boca is clean, safe, well run, with a beautiful beach, great shopping, restaurants, and a reputation for arrogance I just don't see. Easy access to 2 airports, lots of year around recreation, concerts in Mizner Park, just about everything this yankee from NYC has enjoyed for 15 yrs. Traffic can be an issue in SE Florida so choose your location carefully.I love being east of 95 in Boca where I can walk to Trader Joes, Publix, Mizner Park with a movie theater, shopping, the beach, awesome library, bars, restaurants , etc....But that's me...Good luck...

I’ve been looking at Jupiter. Seems to be a surprisingly small, grounded community in a great location. Wikipedia states it’s population growth has slowed dramatically in recent years. At about 65k it seems perfect. The other area I am looking at is near Naples (Gulf coast). Way older out that way, but really, really nice.

Jupiter is really nice and the location is great; close proximity to the beach and major highways (turnpike and 95). A lot of good restaurants and shopping too. OP is looking for a family oriented community with a 600k budget and great schools; I can't think of many nicer places than Jupiter and specifically Abacoa.

My wife and I ended up in Wellington because of the bang for your buck. If we had a higher budget, we likely would have ended up in Jupiter. Naples is really nice, but a different feel entirely. I don't know if I would recommend Naples for a younger family as it's quiet, less crowded (although has been getting built up) and just a totally different [older] vibe.
