Hi...We are thinking of relocating from N.Y. to Wellington and are looking for some info about the voluntary Pre-k program. What schools provide it and is it half day or whole day? Every day or a few times a week? Is it a good program? My son would be starting in Sept. so please help! Any info would be appreciated!

As far as I know, the VPK is 1/2 day and there is no charge, but you must live in Florida already to apply. There is a morning session, and an afternoon one I think. My friend just got her son into Cambridge School here in Wellington which is a very expensive private school, and she was on a waitlist at first so, I don't know if it will be hard to get in, but you can certainly check. When are you moving here? I am also from NY, Long Island and we love it!

Thanks for the info! We would be moving over the summer from Orange County. I guess I would have to wait until we actually move to enroll him. I lived in Wellington for a few years before moving up here and am looking forward to going back. I know a few people from Long Island that have made the move. Thanks!

Wellington....... where do I start? Hurry up or it'll be standing room only. Wow what a great place to live. The mayor is the most honest "politician" in the world, really. I'm not being sarcastic. Come down to visit in the winter if you haven't yet. So much to do and even more if you like equestrian activities or golfing, or tennis, canoeing, shopping,.......I could go on and on.....no I am not a realtor, for the record. Twenty minutes to the beach and downtown West Palm. Wellington has been carefully planned and run since the mid seventies when it started out as a suburb of West Palm Beach. It is now an incorporated Village and has some great amenities. I don't live there as I like the beach way too much but in the day I had my horses there and played polo there every day for ten years. Before most of the gated communities were even thought of. Still great though. They have a chamber of comerce. You should really check out their website.

Cambridge School is a daycare center that offers kindergarten. If you want your child to go to a private school in the area you are better off getting them into the k program in the school that your child will attend after kindergarten.

My daughter went to Cambridge since they opened and is now in private school elsewhere. I have many negative opinions about Cambridge School. I have to say for daycare they were the best choice in the area. I wouldn't recommend the school for academics at all. Their practices are deceptive and underhanded their class sizes and student to teacher ratio was never what they advertised.

If you want to know the best private school in the area, check out Ideal Elementary. Wonderful, wonderful school. They have a wonderful pre-K program. Take a tour and I promise you will agree. They are kind, gentle, respectful, and positive. It is an imaginative place that's full of charm. It's beautiful and colorful - looks nothing like any school I've ever been to. My 2 children have both attended Ideal in the past and we really missed the 'family' when we left. They are actually located in Royal Palm Beach but on the outskirts so it's really close. Good Luck with your search!

We LOVE Wellington. It's a wonderful place to raise children.

We love wellington also, we have 3 kids and it's been nothing but great here. So many things to do. So many schools to choose from and they're not expensive! I moved here from VA 3 yrs ago and I would not move anywhere else! Great place for the kids because the weather is so nice and the housing is very affordable
