what makes you think I haven't tried them? Your wrong. Frozen Ray's bagels do not compare with freshly made bagels bought from a bagel place that knows how to make bagels. You can repeat it all you want, but I'm sorry, Florida made bagels and pizza do not compare with NY made bagels and pizza. If you enjoy Rays - good for you! Yes, of course you can find a decent bagel and slice of pizza in Florida, but come on, are you really serious? By they, this is a a very silly argument on both of our parts .

Well, yeah, okay, I'll add my last two cents and then I agree to end it, just because if I hear one more person using that baseless New York argument I'm gonna get sick - and I am a born & raised New Yorker.
My last cent: Ray's ARE "freshly made bagels bought from a bagel place that knows how to make bagels."
I'll stop now....

That's where you are wrong. Even though Italian (pizza) and Jews (bagels) came into this country through Ellis Island not Freedom Town in Miami. It only makes sense why pizza and bagels are not as prominent in Florida as it is up north.

However their is a population of NY & NJ that bring their recipes and open up shop in South Florida. Just about every bagel place that's not franchise has the name brooklyn bagel or broadway bagel. Also alot of Europeans have been moving into Florida the past ten years and bringing their food with them. Italian Pizza is very different then Italian American pizza. Although these places you have to look for their not on every corner like up north.

Also that whole it's the water that is the biggest excuse people use to cover up why the quality isn't there.

I just got back on a two week vacation from Fairlawn, NJ and went three times to the city. Everything from the quality of pizza, bagels and then some I've eatin in Florida. The only thing I will say is better is the Chinese food I ate in Chinatown is the best I've ever had.

But look and you will find I guarantee it.

There is a new bagel place in the "Villages" of West Palm Beach.... City Bagel? Something like that. I haven't tried it yet, but it's worth a shot.

I do seem to have a tough time finding bagels that have salt on them. Onion is my favorite, but I do miss the salted ones....the same salt that they put on hot pretzels.
They are popular on Long Island, N.Y..
All this talk about bagels....I'll have to get me some tomorrow morning...that bagel shop on Lake Worth road, between Jog and the turnpike :-)

The best bagels in all of Palm Beach County (by far) are at Strathmore Bagel on 441 just north of Lake Worth Road in the Wycliffe Shopping Center.
They are crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside..........and they also feature a ton of varieties.
These bagels are the closest to New York Bagels in taste and substance in all of South Florida.

I agree with Rain, Ray's are the best I have found up here in Hobe Sound. We split them and put the two half's back together and toast them in the small counter top oven. Inside is soft and moist and the outside is crispy! Try them, and check out their website....
