I literally live right across the street from Lake Worth. Lake Worth was a redneck area just a few years ago but the demographics have changed dramatically through the past few years. In 2000 it was only considered 17% hispanic, now the majority of the population in Lake Worth seems to be hispanic.

The funny thing is PBCs most HIspanic city has a heavier Hispanic population than Browards most Hispanic city(Weston), yet PBC as a whole has a significantly lower percentage of Hispanic residents. The Hispanic city in Broward was also one of the safest in the country, the one in PBC among the most dangerous. Interesting how that works....

I was in Delray Beach today, and when you cross the I-95 from west side to east, I felt like I was in 1950. All of the "white" neighborhoods across, and you cross Atlantic and its all what you would call "ghetto". It felt like segregation days.

De Facto segregation, anyone?

I know exactly what you're talking about in Delray Beach. Also, many of the Hispanics in Lake Worth are illegal immigrants so they are not totaled into demographic statistics. Most of Palm Beach County's redneck cities like Lake Worth, Lantana, Palm Springs, etc. have turned into hispanic areas.

Interesting how that works. Hollywood kind of reminds me of Lake Worth, except it didn't really segregate itself like Lake Worth (it just became a mixed jumble like the rest of Broward), and has like half the crime.

I'm not sure what your question is or what you are referring to. Lake Worth is one area I avoid for many reasons. Bottom line..it's not safe, the spanish speaking community rule there and when a hurricane comes and knocks out the electricity it took FPL 3 weeks to get many people back online due to there older utilities. I've heard of personal stories of homes getting broken into, not once, but several times.
If you've never been... here's something you could try if you or anyone is considering moving to Lake Worth.
1. Drive on Federal Highway
2. Drive on Lake Worth ave from Federal all the way west to the turnpike.

Take a look around at the scenery. You'll quickly assess whether or not this is for you.
