Over the years I've always had an interest in moving to Florida, and after years of harsh winters the idea of living in Florida seems nicer and nicer. So, after doing some research and deciding I do not want a gated community, Highland Beach has come up on my radar.

Now, I know Highland Beach children attend Boca Raton schools, which is the only reason I'm considering it, but I'm wondering:

-As far as shopping goes, is Boca still the center for that?
-For community gatherings, are Highland Beach residents accepted (for a lack of better words) in Boca?

I guess my real question is... how different is Highland Beach from Boca Raton, minus the obvious name? While I'm not home, will Boca Raton be "my town" or just a neighboring town?

Highland Beach is only around 4-5000 people, it's very small (you can walk from end to end). Most of it's higher end real estate, or condos. When not on the beach or water you'll probably be spending most of your time in Delray or Boca.
I can't see how or why Highland Beach residents wouldn't get accepted in Boca...

Maybe I came off the wrong way with my wording, the town I currently live in (Lido Beach) is next to the city of Long Beach. Lido uses all of Long Beach's schools, amenities, and post office. And, if out of towners ask, Lido residents will say on occasion they are from Long Beach.

I was wondering if Highland Beach was the same way with Boca Raton.

Highland Beach is lovely. most of the homes/condos are either on the intracoastal or directly on the
beach..there are no stores on Highland Beach and the only commercial building is the Holiday Inn. They
have their own post office, police Dept. and a lovely library. Any shopping you would have to do either
in Delray, if you were closer to the Linton blvd. Bridge over to Federal Highway from A1A (Ocean Blvd)
or if you were further south you would use the Spanish River Bridge over to Federal Highway for shopping
Either way, there are supermarkets, pharmacies, etc....People from Highland Beach say they are from
Highland Beach....My sister has lived there for 20 years and she loves it....Good luck

Ah, okay thank you! I did not know about the Police Department, that's a very nice perk.
