Hi, I may have about an hour or two from 11-1 tomorrow to go to the beach. I'll be working at Northwoods College. Is there a nice beach close by and is the water warm enough to swim in? Thanks

It's warm enough all year round. But then I came from San Diego and 74 is warm there. The closest beach is Palm Beach and pay to park unless you want to hunt for free spots. Right now the water is 72-74

The temp of the water is a subjective thing. I too moved here from Southern California and we think the water is warm enough year round. But many locals would not set foot in it until April or May!

But make sure your kids are aware of the flags. This is Man 'O War season and there are also many days where the beach has red flags for shark migration. But don't worry, the lifeguards will not let your kids in the water if the sharks are out there.

So in answer to your question... for kids who are active and love to swim, the water is DEFINITELY warm enough. Last time I checked the temp was around 70 degrees.

Hope they enjoy!
