Default Does anyone love living in Boca, Wellington, or Palm Beach Gardens?

We are relocating through my husbands company to WPB.
We have been to the area many times and even looked at real estate. I am concerned by all the negative things I have read on the board. We have small children and I am getting nervous about the move. Can anyone tell me some positive things about Boca, Wellington, or Palm Beach Gardens? Are there festivals and family activities year round? Oh someone tell me they are happy they moved here from the North East

We live in Boca for almost 2 years and love it...there are plenty of people who love living where they do but unfortunately there is more negativity than positive...We are from NYC/NJ and our kids said they could never go back....you need to your homework...We have some wonderful friends that we have met here thru out kids activities and school...and Our children have awesome friends and are very happy..Especially our almost 16 yr old son who always had difficulties everywhere else finally feels that he fits in here....We love the Location we love the shopping the restaurants and YES we even like most of the people we come in contact with...We are very happy with the Schools although we would have sent our daughter to a different Elem. but on the flip side of that this school is giving her everything she needs and then some and has been thriving..And we LOVE the HS as well as Our son...If your DH is working in WPB I would consider Jupiter as well...

Good Luck

My sister and I moved our families from NY, down to S. Florida in 1997. My sister lives in West Boca with her two children (17 and 12). She has been living there since my nephew (12 year old) was born and loves it there. There are tons of things to do, lots of shopping, parks, playgrounds, water parks, zoo, museums, etc. The schools are also very good in West Boca. Just an overall great place to raise kids. Me and my family live in West Sunrise. Another great place to raise kids. Overall, very happy living down here. Plus NO MORE SNOW!!!

Thanks for the replies. Dh is working mostly from home but his office is in Ft Lauderdale. He probably will need to spend a couple days in Ft Lauderdale weekly. Do you think Jupiter would be too far? Thanks you are making me feel better already, the sun hasn't shined here in MD for 2 days and there is dirty snow on the ground, yuck. I hate cold weather...... and am looking forward to the change in scenery

Jupiter to Lauderdale is going to be a pretty long haul depending on traffic. The good thing about Jupiter though is that the turnpike and 95 are very close to each other. So it's easy to take either depending on traffic.
I often have to go down to Boynton and it takes me 30-35 minutes from the Gardens and depending on where in Lauderdale he is it's aroun another 30 from there.

Thanks for the reply. Are Palm Beach Gardens and Jupiter similar in their amenities? I haven't been to either area yet.

Palm Beach Gardens and Jupiter share shopping and dining amenities, essentially, though most of it is concentrated on the PGA corridor. The towns border right on each other and there aren't any major differences except Jupiter is slightly less congested, IMO. However, Jupiter has a generally better reputation for schools.

I have lived in Jupiter, and would easily live in either city again.

We are also in the same situation-moving from NJ, DH's job is in Plantation. From the boards and friends down there, we have pretty much narrowed it down to Parkland, West/Central Boca or Coral Springs. We just need to get ourselves down there to see what would be the best fit for our family, but we have heard wonderful things about them all, as long as you do your homework on schools, nieghborhoods, etc. We are looking forward to the move and new way of life! Good luck!

Jupiter does not have a Target, Costco, BJ's and etc. You need to go down to Northlake to hit up Target and/or Costco.

I live in Wellington and my one neighbor works in Ft. Lauderdale, takes the Turnpike everyday. With gas prices rising, I would not suggest placing a burden on the primary income earner in the family with a long commute. If your very wealthy and can afford the price hikes and wear and tear on your car driving long distances, then it probably won't apply. Still can't get back the time you lose commuting.

I work in Palm Beach Gardens, so I drive around 19 miles to work (one way) from Welly World. I have coworkers who live in Ft Pierce, Port St.Lucie to the north and as fart south as Davie, I think they are nuts, driving 60 miles+ one way to work.

That's what I like about Wellington, being centrally located and near the Turnpike, I'm within 20 miles or so of both north and south county and a easy drive to downtown WPB via Southern Blvd.
