Default Moving to West Palm Beach Area - Somewhat Familiar With the Area

I am relocating to West Palm Beach starting in June. I lived on Singer Island for a short period of time, so I am familiar with the Palm Beach Gardens area.

Me and my fiance (both in our late 20's) are looking to move closer to the downtown West Palm Beach area. We are looking to rent a house with a fenced yard (doesn't have to be big) and we have a dog. I'll be working in Juno Beach and she will probably find a job close to downtown, or maybe south like Boca or even Broward County.

What neighborhoods or areas should we start our search? We want to definitely stay away from the bad neighborhoods and crime. I'm well aware of the cost of living for rent in the nicer places

How is the traffic off I-95 during the morning/afternoon commute going north from downtown and south to Boca? Which way is more congested?
Does anyone commute to Ft. Lauderdale from West Palm Beach?

Thanks in advance for your help and replies!

-John

I responded in your other thread... you are starting your search in the right areas, but also look into the "southend" (AKA, "south of Southern") neighborhoods. Zip code 33405, east of Dixie. Some really great homes and neighborhoods in that area.

Also, the commute is easier going north than south -- in general. If you live in the historic districts, you're super close to I95.
