My husband and I are not church-goers - we both believe in a higher power but we do not necessarily believe in Christ... Ah, it's complicated. DH grew up with religion, I did not at all, but I've always kept my spiritual feelings to myself, since my parents and even grandmother were atheists. Anyway, my mother-in-law is Roman Catholic - she has already introduced the concept of God, heaven and angels to my older son and I don't mind that per se, but my son does ask a lot about God and is interested in religion. As he gets older, I want him to form his own opinions and beliefs and I do not think that our discussing God as a family could hurt. My only reservation is joining a church where every Sunday, it's fire and brimstone - my child is anxious enough. I want a church/religious meeting to be thoughtful, casual, and discuss morality in more non-denominational way.

When I was trying to teach my son about respect, he said completely on his own "You're right - I'm not treating others the way I want to be treated" and what popped up in my head was that he (like me as a child) needs something bigger than himself, something bigger than iPods, Leappads, Wii and TV, getting his way all the time, etc. etc. He's too smart for his own good but I want him to start thinking about his behavior, actions, and eventually character as a choice rather than something I'm trying to force him to do.

So long story short, anyone have recommendations as to a non-denominational place of workship in the Wellington area? I think we want to give it a try.

I have friends that belonged to the Calvary Chapel (non-denominational) in Ft. Lauderdale who seemed to be happy with The Calvary. There is one in Wellington.

Best!
