Who know that this would be hardest part of our search to live in Florida?

I know a single family house would be the best choice but we no longer want to do the house thing. We can spend up to $150K.

Why are so many communities so dog unfriendly?....

Walkability was our número uno requirement but that quickly dropped to second place. Help, please.

Get in touch with a realtor... or check out realtor.com and search for pet friendly rentals.
There aren't many as you said.

Might want to look at townhouses as well. They tend to have less restrictions on pets and give you the low maintenance lifestyle.

I couldn't find such a condo or townhouse in the Boca area, so I have a small single family home instead.

The pet situation is terrible in S Florida, and I have two cats: huge problem either with renting or buying a condo. I have a lawn person who isn't expensive who does exterior maintenance of my 1/3 acre yard.

I know it can be a problem but there are quite a few around. There are 2 buildings in Coconut Creek, The Township that allow dogs under 30 lbs, and they are selling in the low 100s. Deerfield has a townhome/villa community The Waterways that allows multiple large dogs any weight and has pet stations. Right now there are 25 condos, villas or townhomes in Boca, Deerfield Beach, Delray Beach and Coconut Creek 90k-149k that take dogs under 30 lbs.

I am so grateful for this forum. This type of feedback is exactly what I need to hear.
We will be renting from mid-February thru March in the Lauderdale area to be close to some friends and explore.

My wife 's knees have been replaced numerous times and, unfortunately, a town home has a staircase. It's never easy but I never figured that having 2 dogs would be so complicated

There's plenty of townhouse/villas without stairs. Especially if you are looking in a 55+ community. Most will allow the two small dogs.
I'd check out West Boynton to stay under the 150k price range.

Hi iLinda, there is a rental on ne 9th st (nice area, walk my dogs there every day) that has what looks like a newly renovated small -ish single family 3/2 for $1800..says pet restriction but perhaps 2 small are ok. there is a nice new fence and tile flooring so at least it looks dog friendly. listed at 117 ne 9th st, delray beach on realtor.com.
