What is your price range? I live in Boca but not in a gated community. There are some wonderful ones, though. Reply back and I'll give you some names. Do you want to live in a country club community?
I live a very normal community that people love. We have lots of young families here too.
Where are you coming from?

Boca
I live in Boca and have for 25 years! I have a family and we love it. We are not stuffy people! We live in a normal community - not gated - but a real community. Families have children - we have community events 4-5 times a year, pizza parties once a month, etc.
Let me know your price range, etc and where you are coming from.
33432 is downtown Boca
33486
33433 central Boca
33434 little west of that
33496 west
33498 west
33487 east
33431 central and east

We can spend 2500-3000 a month to rent. It seems like a lovely area!

2500-3000 to rent at first. The only reason I said gated was the safety factor. I assumed gated was safer. We are coming from Philly.

At that range, you will have the embarrassment of the choice.
Do you prefer the beach and perhaps Mizner Park (east Boca), being near the mall and the university (central Boca) or perhaps a more family-oriented area (west Boca, not that the other areas aren't)? Or perhaps your place of employment, if any, will help determine your choice.

Boca communities
There are a lot of central Boca communities that are very, very family oriented:
(Not a lot of rentals but you might find one from time to time)
Parkside (gated), Boca Bath & Tennis (gated), Vista Verde (not gated), Timbercreek (not gated), Millpond (not gated), New Floresta (not gated),
Paseos (not gated), Estancia (gated - 2), Charleston Place (not gated), Colonnade (not gated), Palm Beach Farms (considered more east Boca but very family oriented), Camino Gardens - lot of waterfront (not gated - considered east but a lovely, friendly community.
I know many people who deal in these areas so if you need help, let me know.
In my neighborhood, we have book clubs, social outings, dog days, bike parades, pizza nights and so forth! Nice family stuff!
In this market, if you see something listed for rent at $3500, offer $3000 and you might be surprised!
